POWEROAD Highlights Battery Passport as Key Enabler for Trust and ESG Compliance at CPIA Dialogue in Munich

Munich, Germany – June, 2026 – POWEROAD participated in the CPIA Dialogue – BV Specialized Forum in Munich on June 22, 2026, together with Bureau Veritas (BV), joining industry leaders to discuss Battery Passport development, ESG compliance, and EU regulatory readiness in the energy storage sector. Organized by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA), the forum brought together manufacturers, certification bodies, developers, and industry experts to exchange perspectives on Europe’s evolving regulatory landscape and energy storage market. During the event, CPIA and Bureau Veritas also announced a strategic cooperation to strengthen compliance support for Chinese PV and energy storage companies expanding into Europe, covering areas such as product certification, project assessment, carbon footprint accounting, battery safety certification, and ESG reporting.

During the panel discussion “Battery Passport 2027: Testing, Verification and Data Challenges,” POWEROAD Founder and President Henry Hao said Battery Passport should be viewed as a “strategic entry ticket to the European market” rather than a compliance burden. He added that “the biggest decision is choosing to start early,” noting that companies should begin building capabilities ahead of mandatory implementation and treat Battery Passport as part of a long-term transformation rather than a short-term regulatory task.

He further emphasized that success depends on building strong local ecosystems and partnerships in Europe, and on shifting from compliance-driven approaches toward market positioning and trust building.

The discussion also underscored that the success of Battery Passport systems relies fundamentally on high-quality, traceable, and independently verified data. POWEROAD highlighted that effective implementation requires close collaboration across manufacturers responsible for reliable data generation, digital platforms enabling traceability, and certification bodies providing independent verification. This ecosystem-based approach is considered essential for enabling scalable and credible Battery Passport deployment across global supply chains.

In addition, POWEROAD emphasized that evolving ESG expectations and regulatory frameworks in Europe are accelerating the transition toward more transparent and data-driven energy storage value chains, where compliance, carbon footprint transparency, and lifecycle traceability are becoming core requirements for market access and long-term competitiveness.
