At POWEROAD, every project is a partnership, and every service call is a commitment to our customers’ success, to long-term value, and to the belief that energy storage should empower, not burden.

In Europe, a family-owned factory with over 200 years of history—once a carriage manufacturer, now a specialist in metalworking—took a bold step toward energy independence. They invested in a 20ft, 1288 kWh air cooling containerized energy storage system, seeking to reduce energy costs through peak-valley tariff optimization and to participate in the power market with surplus electricity. It was a strategic move designed to modernize operations and secure a more sustainable future.

But ambition alone wasn’t enough to keep the system running.

Shortly after installation, the system encountered critical issues. Communication between the Battery Management System (BMS) and the Energy Management System (EMS) failed, leaving the entire setup unmonitorable and unable to charge or discharge. For over 2 years, the system sat idle—an emblem of innovation turned into a lingering liability. The original supplier, lacking core technical capabilities, could offer no effective resolution—only the costly suggestion of replacing the entire system.

That’s when POWEROAD stepped in.

Our technical support team stepped in during a routine inspection tour in Europe. Twice, our engineer visited the site to investigate. We saw more than a malfunctioning system—we saw a legacy enterprise whose progress was stalled.

“This company had sought help from various sources without success and finally turned to us,” explained Engineer Wang from POWEROAD’s Technical Support Department. “After thorough inspection, we identified that the root issue was a communication failure between the BMS and EMS, which meant the system couldn’t acquire cell data and was essentially blind. That’s why it couldn’t charge or discharge—because the EMS lost its ability to control in real-time.”

POWEROAD mobilized a solution, not a patch, but a full recovery plan.

We sent a testing engineer and a technical support engineer to the site. All BMS units across the four battery clusters in the container were replaced. Our R&D team redesigned the BMS interfaces to ensure compatibility with the original third-party system. Multiple rounds of software and hardware debugging were followed to ensure seamless communication with the EMS, PCS, fire protection system, and HVAC.

In just over two weeks, the system was fully operational again.

And now, POWEROAD is working closely with a local energy operator to conduct power dispatch and communication tests, preparing the system to rejoin the grid and re-enter the power market.

This project was more than just another service task—it was a commitment fulfilled.
