An independent housing provider in the Netherlands established an apartment complex to provide quality housing for European migrant workers. The community consists of 96 apartments with individual bedrooms, parking, and bicycle storage, which can hold 330 workers. This project not only offers efficient and well-managed housing solutions, but it also contributes to a more sustainable society.
Sfide:
The project faced an infrastructure constraint at the construction phase: only one grid connection was available to supply all 96 apartments with electricity and heat. This limitation demanded an innovative energy strategy that could ensure energy sufficiency without overloading the local grid. The goal was to maximize on-site solar consumption and achieve grid independence.
Soluzione:
POWEROAD supplied three cabinets of FLEX 215 Air Cooling Energy Storage System to combine with solar panels with a capacity of 187.5kW / 645kWh. The system enabled the following benefits:
✅ Solar Self-Consumption: Surplus solar energy is stored during daylight hours and used during peak demand or at night, significantly reducing grid dependence.
✅ Demand Response: By managing local generation and consumption intelligently, the project avoids excessive feed-in during peak hours, helping alleviate pressure on the overburdened grid.
