In Lithuania, a leading PV panel manufacturer and supplier sought to enhance its energy efficiency and reduce electricity costs at its factory site. With the growing penetration of renewables, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) have become essential for managing surplus solar generation, not only helping to lower energy expenses but also creating new opportunities to generate revenue by supporting grid stability under Europe’s interconnected power network.
Desafío
Excess solar generation: The factory generates a significant amount of solar energy, but without proper energy storage, a portion of this power goes unused or is fed back to the grid at lower rates.
Unstable power consumption: High energy demand during peak hours resulted in increased electricity costs. The company needed a way to shift energy consumption to off-peak hours to reduce expenses.
In addition, the client wanted to unlock additional revenue streams through balancing services , which require fast and reliable response capabilities.

Solución
To address these challenges, POWEROAD provided the CENTRIC-A20 (20FT Containerized BESS) with a capacity of 1MW / 2.58MWh at the factory.
The system performs self-consumption, energy-shifting, peak shaving y participate in the ancillary services, automatically selecting the most profitable operational mode based on market signals.
With its flexible capacity and intelligent control, the system not only reduces energy costs but also creates new revenue streams, efficiently meeting both factory demand and grid response requirements.
Valor del proyecto
- Fast Payback: By participating in ancillary services, the project achieves ROI in just 1.5 years.
- Smart Energy Use: Enhanced solar utilization and reduced peak electricity costs improve overall factory efficiency.
- Sustainability & Profitability: The project demonstrates how energy storage can transform renewable assets from energy buffers into active, income-generating infrastructure that supports both business growth and grid stability.
