POWEROAD is proud to announce the successful commissioning of its advanced containerized energy storage system, the BESS CENTRIC-A20, in South Africa. Following rigorous on-site final testing by POWEROAD’s engineering team, the system is now operational, powering a 375kW/860kWh hybrid on/off-grid PV+ESS project at a local shopping center.

Project Highlights:
- Located near the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, this ESS project is exposed to high humidity and salt spray. The system’s C5 anti-corrosion shell and IP55 protection ensure stable, efficient operation in this corrosive environment.
- The containerized ESS includes automatic power-off protection and an active fire-suppression system, developed in collaboration with China Academy of Building Research Fire Institute, to enhance fire safety for both the shopping center and its visitors.
- Acting as a backup power source, the ESS features seamless on/off-grid switching, ensuring uninterrupted power for essential systems like lighting, payment, and security during grid failures, thus enhancing operational flexibility and stability.
- Utilizing the PV+ESS configuration optimizes clean energy use, taking advantage of time-of-use pricing to lower power costs, reduce operating expenses, and yield economic benefits for the shopping center.
- The ESS is connected to the POWEROAD Cloud Platform, offering visualized maintenance, detailed data analytics, and comprehensive operational services, including safety monitoring, operational strategy adjustment, and real-time battery balancing. This system proactively alerts for potential safety risks 30 minutes in advance, facilitating prompt troubleshooting and enhancing system security.
- The POWEROAD ESS features an integrated design that allows for in-factory prefabrication and testing. It can be directly lifted and installed on-site without additional setup, significantly reducing the project timeline. With a simplified system structure, the ESS offers ease of installation, providing a plug-and-play experience.
